Abstract

Hâle Seval’s last story book is entitled ‘Duvarsız Avlu Bozcaada- Bozcaada a Courtyard with Walls’. The author borrowed the title of this work from the work of Arif Damar- with his permission of course. She composes a story were the images of her world are portrayed in italics and the human-island, human-human, past-present, happiness-misery and even further than that devastation reflected as a dramatic tale. Hâle Seval thanks friends and other witnesses to the islands past and present with all its authenticity and simplicity in the forward to her work. In her work she portrays the lives of the humans and their ontological problems with an incredible patience, in a tasteful manner and with a dramatic language. As in the tribute paid by Şavkar Altınel on the back cover ‘… the vivacious details will attract you like the colors of the rays of sunshine, the islands problems will appeal to your heart, and a layer of salt like the residue of the sea will remain with you forever…’.
