In this paper, meaning of language barriers in health care, significance of linguistic accessibility in terms of right to health and rights of patients are discussed. Language barriers are relevant to inability to communicate with health professionals. Physical disabilities, migration, belonging to linguistic minorities or tourism consists main reasons of language barriers. In Turkey, since there is no legal guarantee for the right to an interpreter, right to access health care, right to health, also right to privacy, autonomy, informed consent have been violated. Recommendations about this subject are suggested by analyzing international conventions and domestic regulations in various countries.
